A Mysterious Case...

A large, heavy suitcase was found in school! It was very battered and seemed to be very old. When we opened the suitcase it was filled with different items, the children investigated to see if the items were linked.

We found some items that belonged on board a ship, including a captains hat and a Morse code keyer! Some of the items we found had the word 'Titanic' on them!

Titanic Disaster!

Built in Belfast, the Titanic set sail from Belfast on 12th April 1912. Disaster struck three days later when she ran into an iceberg in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!

In this exciting history project, the children learnt about life in 1912 and the differences between first, second and third class passengers. They sequenced historical events and evaluated reasons for the sinking. We enjoyed going on a trip to the Sea City museum in Southampton. We saw some artefacts as well as challenging us to decide which passengers we thought deserved a place on a lifeboat.

As our topic outcome, we dressed up and boarded our very own Titanic.
